you know, here in alberta there is this big debate going on right now about gay marriage. 97% are against. i don't know what the big deal is. people only think they are still living in the fifties. all you have to do is take a good look around you to know it isn't anywhere near that. wife beating isn't covered up, date rape is openly defied, child abuse is a crime and people of color are by and large (depends on where you go..people are still quite racist, but more so they are religiously racist!) accepted and valueable members of their communities. lord above, i do not want to return to the fifties. if minorities thought there was oppression before..... // in my opinion, marriage is a civil thing. it's one thing for a church who has it's own members and it's own code of conduct to say, no we don't believe in that. however, it's another thing when it comes to civil rights. // i'm catholic too :-) it's too bad the church didn't stand up more for the victims of this past abuse so that it could be a model trust figure for those who are enduring it now, catholic or not.

I don't believe in marriage. To me it's about possession, and contrary to popular belief love does not equal possession. About the only reason to do it is for legal rights and that's not about love either. Just make a will, hon.

As for marriage, the point is the Freedom to marry/legally bind yrself to anyone you want. As for the GOP and race, considering that KHarris and Jeb Bush admitted to illegally turning away at least 50,000 black people from the polls (the NAACP won their case against them, though it got little media attention). As for banners, I love them (got me here). It shows that you are a goldmember, which means you probably put in more effort- plus, that you *want* readers (not everyone does). I want to know about good stuff, and it's hard to find. Whew. I'm verbose today. Sorry.

Just regarding banners, i would disagree about them being cheating. People only click on banners if the banners are good and command their interest; and after that, only keep reading if you're pretty good. Making a good banner takes as much skill as anything else... having said that, i'm not sure if you made your banner yourself or not? If you didn't, i guess that kinda negates everything i just said. Oh, whatever. I got here through your banner, anyhow ;) Funky diary!
